You might think family-friendly New Year's Eve celebrations aren't easy to come by. But believe it or not, in the U.S. there are a plethora of events across all 50 states where you'll see the skies filled with fireworks and the venues packed with family activities. Unfortunately we can't detail every major celebration in every major city but what we can do is give you a list of our top three favorites.

Don't stay inside this New Year's. Get out and celebrate with your whole family underneath a sea of fireworks. If you happen to be on locum tenens assignment near any of these cities, be sure to swing by for festivities.

Boston - First Night

Across the United States many major cities celebrate the new year with what's called First Night. Boston is one of those cities. Best of all it's very family-centric, so much so they have a "bed-time friendly" fireworks show for all the young ones that starts at 7pm. They actually make it an all-day thing, too, filled with events. Check out what's going on here.

Chicago - Chi-Town Rising

Chi-Town Rising attracts an audience of all ages what with its eclectic musical lineup and its family countdown on the Chicago Cultural Mile. If you're flying solo or with your partner then head to the Countdown Stage on Upper Wacker Drive for a great show with some great artists. Or if you have the family in tow then park yourselves in Wrigley Square at Millennium Park for free hot chocolate and cookies as well as an official countdown celebration for kids at 6pm.

Oregon - 29th Annual New Year's Eve Extravaganza at Mt. Hood Skibowl

Well that was a mouthful. Still, the New Year's Eve celebration at Mt. Hood Skibowl is a can't-miss. Even if you can't ski or snowboard, come for the food, dance and tubing hill. Plus the fireworks are amazing amidst the snow-blanketed mountains of Oregon.
