Discover the hidden treasure of the Caribbean's Mastic Trail

A trip to the Mastic Trail in the Caribbean can make you feel young again. The restored footpath is about 200 years old and is home to a forest of trees over 2 million years old. This wooded region is one of the last remaining examples of the area's dry, subtropical forest, where you can see a wide variety of unique animals and plants. Locum doctors can hike along the trail to gain a natural, historic sense of the vacation island.To protect the one-of-a-kind landscape, the island's National Trust has adopted 754 acres of the 1,000 under their care, forming the Mastic Reserve. Mainly a flat trek, the two-mile hike takes roughly three hours because of its captivating plant and wildlife that you'll want to stop and look at.
Many people and even some natives are unaware of the tropical forest's existence. You can impress locals with your knowledge of the trail, asking them if they've ever seen a yellow Mastic tree - the stunning arbor plant towers over the forest, draped in balsam roots and provides a habitat for all sorts of woodland creatures.
