Quality Assurance

Quality Assurance begins with GMS’s initial contact with a doctor and continues through the final days of his or her assignment. From the moment a GMS doctor arrives at your practice, one of our representatives will be speaking with the designated practice representative and the locum doctor to learn how the match is progressing, and what can be done to improve it. Contact will be made every few days during the first week of a new locum assignment and weekly thereafter.

Our Guarantee

If during the first week of a GMS doctor's placement, you are not completely satisfied with that doctor or GMS’s service, and GMS is unable to remedy the problem, GMS will remove the doctor and you will not be charged for any fees associated with that doctor.

If a client choose to exercise the guarantee, GMS will work assiduously to replace the doctor as quickly as possible. If problems arise after the first week, GMS handles them in the same manner; however, GMS will require payment for all services associated with the doctor to date.

Credentialing, Registering and Sponsoring

Our staff consists of over 53,000 doctors from Canada, the US, South Africa and Europe who are interested in international assignments. The key to our service is the manner in which we meticulously screen our candidates and research their backgrounds. Each and every doctor is extensively interviewed and at least five of his or her references are contacted. The references are asked a series of questions about the candidate's clinical, interpersonal and organizational skills. Written letters of reference are also gathered along with a Certificate of Good Standing from their medical registrar. All of this information is provided to you and the ultimate decision to accept or decline the candidate is entirely up to you.

The doctors GMS typically works with are looking for the opportunity to practice medicine in a unique culture and are eager for new challenges. Many of GMS’s candidates are doctors who are interested in exposing their families to another culture. They are curious to experience first hand a different health care system and to immerse themselves in another way of life.

Saving Time & Money

With a keen knowledge of the various medical markets, GMS is in a unique position to serve practices with highly skilled doctors at a reasonable charge. You will also find that you conserve resources by working through GMS. This is because GMS walks the doctors, step-by-step, through the required Medical Registration, Immigration, Sponsorship and Work Visa processes. Once all of the appropriate authorities have approved the doctor's credentials GMS will arrange schedules and flights for the doctor to begin working. Throughout this process GMS is available to you 24 hours per day via toll-free lines, email, and pager.

Costs and Expenses

Our experience in placing thousands of doctors into dozens of different Countries has taught us that there is no single method of charging for our recruiting services that suits all of our clients.  Some clients simply want to pay a flat fee, typically based on the doctor’s proposed salary.  Other locations are looking to recruit doctors into “private practice” settings where there is no fixed salary.  Many locations, for a variety of reasons, do not want to have the doctor on their payroll and prefer to pay GMS for the Doctor’s Services.  We are flexible in structuring our recruiting fee to match the situation.  Like you, we are looking for a recruiting fee that is fair to all parties (clients, doctors and GMS).

The benefits we ask you to provide our doctors also vary greatly and depend on the “standard” for your area and what other doctors typically receive if they work in your community.  The benefits that most doctors ask for are airfare(s), housing assistance and a car.  If you are located in “paradise” and only need a doctor to see interesting cases between 10 AM and 3 PM for the next few weeks, the doctor will likely require fewer benefits to entice them to your location.  However, if you are a more typical client, located just outside of paradise that needs a doctor to work full time and also share on-call responsibilities, the more reasonable package you can offer a potential candidate, the better chance we will be able to find a suitable candidate quickly.

Regardless of the structure of the recruiting fee or the benefits you can offer, using GMS for your staffing needs typically saves you time and money because you do not need to advertise, recruit, negotiate fees, or credential individual doctors. No payment is required until the doctor you have selected actually arrives at your location.
